Chief Banking Officer (Remote)

Angott Search Group is pleased to partner with a community bank group (under $1B in assets) in the search for a Chief Banking Officer (CBO).
The Chief Banking Officer is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team responsible for driving growth, profitability, and customer engagement across all business lines. This role provides strategic leadership and oversight of the bank’s retail, wealth management, insurance, and commercial banking divisions, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and long-term strategic plan.
This is a remote-based leadership role with periodic on-site requirements throughout the year, supporting a banking organization located in the Upper Midwest.
Responsibilities:
- Provide executive leadership and strategic direction across all banking lines of business, including retail, commercial banking, wealth management, and insurance.
- Drive overall growth, profitability, and operational performance across the organization.
- Ensure alignment of business line strategies with the bank’s mission, vision, and long-term strategic plan.
- Lead development and execution of enterprise-wide growth initiatives and customer engagement strategies.
- Oversee performance of business line leaders and ensure accountability for financial and operational results.
- Partner with executive leadership to evaluate market opportunities, competitive positioning, and expansion strategies.
- Foster strong customer-focused culture across all divisions.
- Collaborate with risk, finance, and operations leadership to ensure sound governance and regulatory compliance.
- Represent the organization externally with key stakeholders, partners, and the broader banking community.
- Provide leadership in talent development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive banking leadership experience.
- Strong background in both Commercial Banking and Retail Banking required.
- Experience leading multiple business lines within a financial institution.
- Proven track record of driving growth, profitability, and organizational performance.
- Strong strategic planning and execution capabilities.
- Excellent executive leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively with executive teams and Boards of Directors.
- Must be located in or willing to reside in the Upper Midwest / Central Plains region.
- Ability to travel and attend periodic on-site meetings throughout the year.
